Worked example
Convert a photograph to WebP for a web asset, or choose PNG when preserving transparency matters. Converting a JPG into PNG cannot restore detail already lost in JPEG compression.
Limits and things to check
JPG does not support transparency. Animated images, vector formats, and original metadata are not promised by this raster converter. Output size can increase.
Is changing the filename extension enough?
No. Renaming .jpg to .png does not change the encoding. This tool decodes the image and creates a new file in the selected format.
