Uses exact integer arithmetic, including values larger than JavaScript’s ordinary safe-integer range.

How to use Number Base Converter

Convert whole numbers between base 2, 8, 10, and 16 while preserving integer precision with BigInt.

  1. Select the source base and enter digits valid in that base.
  2. Select binary, octal, decimal, or hexadecimal as the target.
  3. Convert and copy the resulting integer representation.

Worked example

Decimal 255 is binary 11111111, octal 377, and hexadecimal FF. Each representation describes the same integer.

Limits and things to check

Fractions and scientific notation are not supported. Binary accepts only 0 and 1; octal 0–7; hexadecimal 0–9 and A–F. A base conversion is not text encoding.

Will large integers lose precision?

The conversion uses BigInt rather than floating-point numbers, so it preserves supported integer inputs exactly. Keep the result as text when moving it to software that cannot represent large integers.
