How to use EMI Calculator
Estimate the monthly instalment, total interest, and repayment for a fixed-rate loan with equal monthly payments.
- Enter the principal amount and annual interest percentage.
- Enter the repayment term in months, not years.
- Calculate and compare monthly payments and total interest across terms.
Worked example
A ₹12,000 loan over 12 months at 0% interest has a ₹1,000 monthly payment and ₹0 interest. A positive interest rate increases the payment under the reducing-balance formula.
Limits and things to check
The estimate excludes fees, insurance, taxes, missed payments, rate changes, and prepayments. Displayed amounts are rounded; actual lender schedules can differ.
Which EMI formula is used?
EMI = P × r × (1+r)^n ÷ ((1+r)^n − 1), where P is principal, r is the annual percentage divided by 1200, and n is months. With zero interest, EMI = P/n.
